Field Work

I started at my field work church yesterday. I'm doing it at New Life Church Lutheran in Hugo, MN. It's a cute little church that worships about 100 people on a sunday. Another girl from my program is doing field work with me there, her name is Heidi and our supervisor is Faith and she has been at the church for about 4 years. Both of the ladies are fun and i'm excited to work with both of them. The church is in a more suburban/rural setting so it will be a bit of a change of what i am used to but it will be a great learning experience for me.
The people were very welcoming to me when i walked in before they knew that i would be the field work student there. They introduced themselves to me immediately and introduced me to the pastor and such. They really were doing that part of outreach quite well.
Another cool thing about the church is that the pastor is a volunteer pastor. After he retired he started looking for a call as a missions pastor at a "mega-church" and the synod asked him to work at New Life and he said he would do it but for no pay so they could pay someone (Faith) to be a DCO there. How cool is that? i mean he has such a passion for missions at the church that he would do it for no pay. I'm really excited to get to know him more.
Well that's all for now.
