Law and Gospel

In my "All within the Context of the Christian Gospel" class (AKA: the Law and Gospel class) my professor kind of explained why people react differently when they hear i am a Christian.

Here are the two scenarios:

1. Me: Hi I'm Kali and i am going to school to get a theology degree with an outreach emphasis (easier than explaining to someone what the Heck a DCO is).
Their reaction: Oh...(silence....cricket....cricket) that's nice.
Then i get the cold shoulder for the rest of my time with them.
*this happens the most when i get my haircut*

2. Me: Hi I'm Kali and i am going to school to get a theology degree with an outreach emphasis (easier than explaining to someone what the Heck a DCO is).
Their reaction: Oh that is fantastic. I think that is awesome. Where do you see yourself once you graduate?

So the reason people react to me differently is because they either see me saying i am a christian as the law or the gospel. Those who see it as the law are afraid i will give them rules to live by or will tell them to stop having fun. Those who see it as the gospel are excited and encourage me in it.

i thought it was a neat conversation and helped me to understand a little bit more about why some people are just down right rude to me when they find out i am a christian or am going to school to be a missionary.

Lord,
Open people's eyes and hearts. help them to see you. Help me to be able to talk to each person on their own level and help me to not take it personal that they don't immediately want to become my best friend when i tell them i am a Christian. Don't let the devil discourage me or shame me because of my faith. Help me to stand up against my advesaries and say proudly that i belong to you.
Amen
